The lab / History
The history of the Anatomy Laboratory begins with its opening in 1988 with the first Director being Associate Professor
Georgios Antonakopoulos, who together with Assistant Professor
Theodoros Kalopisis were the first two faculty members of the Laboratory.
In 1990,
Ioannis Siatitsas is appointed as Associate Professor of Anatomy and took over the Directorate of the Anatomy Laboratory in 1991 after the election and appointment of Mr. G. Antonakopoulos as Professor at the Medical School of the University of Thessaly.
In 1997
Athanasios Karampelas is elected Associate Professor of Neuroanatomy (retired in 2011) and in 1998
Georgios Tzanakakis is elected Associate Professor of Anatomy.
Subsequently,
Petros Myrillas is elected in 2002 as Assistant Professor of Anatomy, who in 2007 moved to AUTH and Mr. Kon/nos Paspalas in 2005 as Assistant Professor of Neuroanatomy who remained a member of the Laboratory until 2010 when he took an academic position in USA University.
In 2010,
G. Tzanakakis is elected Professor of Anatomy-Histology and took over the direction of the Laboratory, after the retirement of Mr. I. Siatitsa.
In 2013, after his election,
Ioannis Tsiaousis is appointed as Assistant Professor of Anatomy, who in 2019 was elected (evolved) to Associate Professor of Anatomy. Mr. I. Tsiaousis assumed the Directorship of the Anatomy Laboratory of the Medical School of the University of Crete in 2021, after the retirement of Mr. G. Tzanakakis. Mr. Tsiaousis was elected (evolved) to Porfessor of Anatomy in 2023
The members of the Laboratory are Mrs
E. Dragonaki Assistant Professor, Mrs.
V. Kokkinaki Technical Staff since 2005, Mrs.
I. Spyridaki Lab Lecturer from 2014 to 2022, and Mrs.
M. Dimopoulou Lab Lecturer during 2006 - 2015.
